New Perspectives

New Perspectives is a 12-piece series reflecting on raw and intense emotions felt within states of change and introspection. It continues the ‘box scan’ technique from Confined Conditions, where transient paintings are created within a clear acrylic box, captured with a scanner, and digitally manipulated.

New Perspectives explores themes of change, sobriety and introspection. The works reflect on a resurgence of raw emotions – clearer, yet more intense feelings that come from letting go of long-term coping mechanisms and reconnecting to self.

Confliction

Inspired by quitting nicotine, personal realisations, and other life changes, the body of work comes from a place of vulnerability, acknowledgment of misalignment and desire for growth.

Inner Journey

New Perspectives builds on the ‘box scan’ technique from Confined Conditions, where I create transient paintings within a clear acrylic box, capture them with a scanner, and digitally manipulate the images (more context here). Each ‘box painting’ is cleared away after the final capture, leaving only the digital artifact—a kind of ‘burn mechanism’ that aligns with my practice of releasing work via blockchain.

Confrontation

While each of my previous series have intentionally changed styles, I kept returning to this approach for its perfect balance of intention, spontaneity and digital refinement. It feels like the direction I’m meant to continue exploring and expanding on. With this clarity, New Perspectives features some different techniques and bolder edits that represent the deeper shifts experienced over the past year.

OLd Hopes, New Fears

The series began with Old Hopes, New Fears, a piece that looks at reflection and regret, capturing a mental collision of nostalgia and reality, sparking a change. The final piece, Reconnection, includes flower clusters from an Australian ‘Golden Wattle’ tree (Acacia pycnantha) – symbolising a spiritual renewal and a positive reset. Together these works frame the journey of New Perspectives, reflecting on the cycles of rediscovery and resilience that comes with meaningful change.
